Lowe China beefs up top leadership by promoting Fanny Yum as China MD

BEIJING - Lowe Beijing has promoted Fanny Yum, its Beijing GM to a newly created MD role, to lead the overall business development and office management of its operations in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Yum is credited with Lowe Beijing's emergence as a new force in the agency scene after winning a string of new international and local businesses.

Yum (pictured) is responsible for building the Lowe Beijing operation almost from scratch, with Founder Group as its first client account, since two years ago. Since then, Yum has pitched and won a string of important local and international accounts such as Mengniu, Nature's Bounty and Markor, she was also instrumental in winning Anjuke (a property e-commerce client) and Natural Beauty businesses. 

Yum will help to shoulder some of the management responsibilities that are now part of Kitty Lun, chairman/CEO of Lowe China's remit. She will run the Lowe China operations together with Norman Tan, creative chief officer, Baiping Shen, chief planning officer and Tanner Tan, chief finance chief officer.

Commenting on Yum’s promotion, Lun praised that she is outstanding in her judgment and leadership and is a well-rounded advertising professional when it comes to both international and local clients.

Yum is a seasoned advertising professional from Hong Kong and has moved to China (mainly Beijing and Shanghai) for more than 12 years. She has worked for a number of 4A agencies including DraftFCB Beijing, McCann Ericsson Beijing, BBDO Shanghai, and Bates Beijing. She has a successful track record in serving many multinational blue chips company accounts including Motorola, Pepsi, FedEx, Haier, Nestle, China Mobile and Visa.

“I have solid experience in serving multinational accounts for over a decade, in the past two years, I have taken up the challenge in developing and expanding relationships with local Chinese clients.” Yum added, “the ad industry is facing increasingly tough challenges, I am looking forward to contribute more good works to Lowe as well as the industry together with our talented team. ”

Apart from her promotion, Lowe China has hired a number of senior members to expand their team in China, including Sherry Yen and Eva Hu, both business directors. They will be stationed in Shanghai, and their main responsibilities will be running the agency’s 16 Unilever brands as well as other clients. Sun Pei Dong and Adrian Cui will work in Lowe Beijing's office as creative director and senior account director, respectively.
