PCCW provides free Wi-Fi with HKTB

HONG KONG – PCCW and Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) have partnered to offer free Wi-Fi services to heighten the travel experience in Hong Kong.

PCCW has set up wireless hotspots in the city to provide free-accesss such as maps, events, attractions and promotions. These wireless zones are marked with red stickers and mainly locate in PCCW's phone kiosks. This service also include downloads on travel guides via smartphones.

A ‘location-based visitor digital map' service is set up solely for this project. The map will mark the exact location of the visitors after logging in, and display nearby restaurants and shops credited under the Quality Tourism Services Scheme of HKTB.

There are more than 7000 hotspots in Hong Kong now. This move between PCCW and HKTB is to presents a welcoming image of Hong Kong. Anthony Lau, executive director of HKTB said 20 per cent of the overnight visitors in Hong Kong last year have used free Wi-Fi services during their stay.
