Brett will remain to be based in Singapore and retain his current Asia responsibilities, which he assumed in May 2009, as well as his role as chairman of TBWATequila Singapore.

Announcing the appointment, TBWA’s president worldwide, Tom Carroll, said the Executive Committee was growing from 13 to 17 members as it “becomes more and more important to tap the expertise of our leaders around the world”.

Keith Smith, TBWA Group’s president international and a speaker at this week’s AME Festival in Shanghai
, said: “This is a well-deserved promotion for Philip. He has made a significant contribution to our growth in Asia/Pacific over the past few years and it is important that he brings this experience to a broader stage.”

“It is also indicative of the emphasis that we put on the Asia-Pacific region that we are adding someone with his knowledge to our global strategic forum”, he added.

Brett established Tequila in Singapore in 1996 and has helped grow the regional network in 13 markets throughout Asia-Pacific. He was also instrumental in the merger with TBWA, which created a major agency force in the region.
