The appointment, effective next week, sees Malik assume management for the overall leadership, strategy and direction of the network in India.

She will report to Text 100 director for Asia-Pacific Rowan Benecke.

Malik has been working as a managing consultant for the past five years, and has held a career in communications for more than 20 years. Prior to her time at Text 100, she led corporate communications at IT services-company HCL Technologies.

Benecke explains that India is experiencing major growth, especially on a consumer level with the rise of the middle-class. "It is still the smallest in terms of internet penetration, but it is growing fast." Traditional media is still the dominant communications medium which is higlighted by the 30,000 existing daily newspapers.

In addition to Malik’s promotion, Text 100 has further restructured its India leadership team, promoting Nibha Bandhari Viyas to the post of deputy managing consultant for Text 100 Delhi and Suchita Ullal as managing consultant for Text 100 Bangalore and Chennai.

Meanwhile, Text 100 Mumbai will continue to be co-managed by Ashish Arora and Ketan Jain.

The appointments follow a management restructure in China, another key market.
Last month, Text 100 promoted managing consultant of Text 100 Shanghai TT Yang to the role of managing director for China as part of a wider management restructure that saw the agency create a central leadership role for the market.

Major clients in India include Microsoft, Xerox, American Express, Virgin Mobile, SanDisk, Yahoo and Cisco.
