Text 100 wins Yahoo7 public relations account in Australia

SYDNEY - Yahoo7, the joint venture between digital corporation Yahoo and Australia's Seven Network launched in January 2006, has appointed Text 100 with its PR duties following a four-way pitch.

The business will be handled by Text 100’s digital lifestyle practice. Hill & Knowlton previously worked on the account.

“Yahoo7 needs an agency that can help serve multiple audiences - including consumer and trade,” said Harry Burt, general marketing manager for Yahoo7. “We were very impressed with Text 100’s ability in the pitch to deliver an original core creative idea within a sound strategic framework that also addressed our corporate PR requirements.”

The news comes days after Yahoo announced that it will move forward in its search partnership with Microsoft after US and UK authorities gave the companies clearance to proceed.

Last month, news of Yahoo’s plans to globally re-organise its regional structure also emerged. The decision sees the consolidation of its operating zones into three areas – the Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific – and the expansion of VP for Asia Rose Tsou’s duties to include the management of Southeast Asia.

Australia and New Zealand are two of four markets in Asia-Pacific where Yahoo is engaged in joint ventures. Yahoo also works with Alibaba in China and Softbank in Japan.

Separately, Text 100 recently won business from Macquarie Telecom, Flip Video and projects for Siemens and Nokia Siemens Networks.
