Kretser said it is a great accolade to handle the PR for the University of Melbourne

This is the first time the university has appointed a PR firm in Malaysia, Michael de Kretser, CEO at GO Communications told Campaign.

"With increasing competition from not only Australian universities like Monash and Victoria, but from the US and the UK, Melbourne University has recognised a need to build awareness in the market," he said.

The PR brief begins with the University of Melbourne’s first-ever delegation to Kuala Lumpur next month to market the University. According to de Kretser, the delegation will be meeting with local universities as well as education media.

The agency is currently working on a project basis with other potential projects from the university in the pipeline, he said.

De Kretser, noted that it is a great accolade to handle the PR for Australia’s highest-ranked, and at over 150-years old, its oldest  University.

“The University is ranked 36th in the world by the Times Higher Education’s World University rankings. It has more than 6,500 staff, more than 50,000 students, including over 12,000 international students from 129 countries,” he added.'
