Havas has appointed Valerie Madon (née Cheng) to the dual role of chief creative officer for Southeast Asia and creative lead for GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in APAC.

She will be responsible for the creative output of all Havas agencies in Southeast Asia, overseeing the creative leads in nine markets. As creative lead for GSK in Asia Pacific, she will be responsible for creative output for the global and regional brands managed out of Havas’ GSK Hub in Singapore.

Madon will report to Vishnu Mohan, CEO of Havas Group, Southeast Asia and India, and will work with Christian Pattman, the recently appointed executive global client director of GSK at Havas APAC.

Madon was most recently head of creative shop for Southeast Asia at Facebook, a position she assumed in 2015 following two years as CCO for J Walter Thompson Singapore, where she was also global ECD for Shell Lubricants.

“My time at Facebook...made me realise that media strategy and the creative idea cannot be separated," Madon said in a release. "I knew if I were to return to the 'agency world', it has to be a place that believes in this too, and is committed to making changes for a new creative process.”

Mohan said Madon's experience in creative, digital and media makes her a natural fit for Havas' client-centric unified model.
