XL Axiata hands business to Initiative Media

JAKARTA - XL Axiata, Indonesia's third largest telco, is believed to have handed its media business to Initiative Media after two-way final battle with incumbent Dentsu Media Cubic.

XL Axiata hands business to Initiative Media
In January this year, the telco invited seven agencies to pitch for a bid sized project. Agencies believed to be involved include Dentsu Strat, Initiative Media and Octocom. It is not clear which part of the account was being pitched by XL Axiata but there is a possibility of it being connected to the telco's latest rebranding.

Last week Indonesia's largest telco Telkomsel surprised the industry by calling a creative pitch.

Meanhwhile, in the first week of March another telco Axis handed its creative business to Coleman Handoko.

XL Axiata is the third largest cellular provider in Indonesia and primarly owned by Axiata through Indocel Holding (83.8 per cent). The remaining stakes are held by Emirates Telecommunications Corporation International Indonesia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Etisalat (16 per cent) and the public (0.2 per cent).
