Kellogg's Australia engineers new ad with robot inventor Simone Giertz

J. Walter Thompson Sydney has created two new TVCs and a longform video for Kellogg's featuring the YouTube star.

Now this is an ad that Ad Nut is happy to get behind. Or to the left of. Or underneath — any place that will allow for close proximity to nutty cereal being dispensed at high speed.

In the latest stage of their 'Amazing Creations' campaign, which encourages experimentation with breakfast cereals, Kellogg's and J. Walter Thompson Sydney have replaced one YouTube legend — Zach King, an American 'digital magic' star — with another, Simone Giertz, with whom they have created two TVCs and a longer video designed to show that Kellogg's cereals can be mixed with other foods to make new snacks.

Giertz is a 27-year-old Swede with a passion for making irreverant robots. Examples include her 'toothbrush helmet' and an 'applause machine', which she has called "the perfect combination of quirky and creepy". In a perfect tie-in for Kelloggs, one of Giertz's most popular videos on her YouTube channel, which has close to a million subscribers, is her 'breakfast machine' robot, a high-tech looking device Giertz made in 2015 that can — in theory — pour Giertz's cereal, add milk and feed it to her.

Ad Nut is a little alarmed by the mess factor of the new robots Giertz has created for the Kellogg's ads. When Ad Nut makes a snack, Ad Nut likes the food components of that snack to end up in one bowl in front of Ad Nut, not plastered all over the walls or floor. But the idea for the ad is fun and Giertz is a great choice as an influencer partner, both for the size of her follower base and the energy she brings to the campaign.

And when you get down to the nuts and bolts, any snack that's been near a grain-based product is good for Ad Nut. Ideally with added nuts.
