YouTube's ad revenue for APAC grows by 9% in Q4 2024

A regional analysis of YouTube’s earnings points to overall constant currency revenues for APAC having grown by 9%. Other regions clocked in more impressive growth with the US and EMEA at 13% and 11% respectively, with other Americas growing by 22%.

YouTube recorded a 13.8% year-on-year increase in global ad revenue in Alphabet’s Q4 2024 results, surpassing $10 billion for the first time.

The increase in ad revenue for Google’s streaming platform was driven by the 2024 US presidential election, according to Google chief business officer Philipp Schindler. On an earnings call, he claimed that both the Democrat and Republican parties almost doubled their spending compared with the 2020 elections.

The tech giant claimed more than 45 million US viewers watched election content on the platform on election day (November 5).

Google and YouTube parent Alphabet published its Q4 and full-year results on Tuesday. The company reported Q4 revenue of $96.5 billion (up 12% year over year) and net income of $26.54 billion.

Google Services revenues, including Google Search and YouTube ads, increased 10% yearly to $84.1 billion, making up 87% of Alphabet’s total revenue.

Sundar Pichai, chief executive of Alphabet and Google, said the tech company expects to invest “approximately $75 billion in capital expenditures in 2025” to “accelerate” progress in AI.

“Q4 was a strong quarter driven by our leadership in AI and momentum across the business. We are building, testing and launching products and models faster than ever and making significant progress in computing and driving efficiencies,” he said.

Pichar said AI Overviews and Circle to Search are increasing user engagement in Google Search, which increased 12.5%. He added that Google Cloud portfolio is seeing “stronger” customer demand, with a 30% year-on-year increase.

YouTube continues to be the “leader in streaming watch time and podcasts.” Together, Cloud and YouTube ended 2024 with an annual revenue run rate of $110 billion.
