Young (pictured) will assume the role in place of GroupM Asia-Pacific chief executive Mark Patterson, who had to withdraw due to unforeseen work commitments.

Terry Savage, the chairman of Spikes Asia, described Young as “a natural leader” who understood the nuances of the region. Prior to moving to the US, Young worked in Asia for seven years at Saatchi & Saatchi and what used to be Zenith Media.

The media jury will consist of Adam Ferrier, global head of behavioural science at Naked Communications; Anita Nayyar, chief executive for India and South Asia at Havas Media; Jeffrey Seah, chief executive for Southeast Asia at Starcom MediaVest; Kaoru Matsui, managing director of UM Japan; Leela Nair, managing director of Mindshare Singapore; Ray Wong, chief executive of PHD Hong Kong; and Seth Grossman, managing director of Carat China.

The Spikes Asia Advertising Festival will take place between the 18 and 20 of September at Suntec Singapore.
