Burson-Marsteller adds two senior hires in China

BEIJING - Public relations consultancy Burson-Marsteller has appointed Christina Wu as market leader for Guangzhou and Chengdu, and Newman Tang as director for Burson-Marsteller Shanghai.

Wu most recently served as a director at Bite Communications Hong Kong. Prior to that she spent three years in PR firm APCO's Guangzhou office. During her tenure there she built a strong background in public affairs as a representative of the Government of Wales in Southern China. Her earlier career includes positions at Edelmen, Hill and Knowlton and ZTE - a large Chinese telecommuncations equipment manufacturer.

Wu, who grew up in Guangzhou, is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. She holds a Master’s degree in European Studies from Cardiff University and a Bachelor’s degree in International Economy and English studies from the Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Languages. 

Tang re-joins Burson Marsteller after leading marketing and communications for the Shanghai Corporate Pavilion at the 2010 World Expo. Before the Expo, Tang spent six years in Burson-Marsteller Shanghai’s Corporate and Technology practices. Tang's work at the Expo has earned him a solid background in working with local governments, Chinese state-owned enterprises and other stakeholder groups.

A Shanghai native, Tang began his career as a journalist and was an editor and supervisor with the China Business Network.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the People’s University of China and is fluent in English, Mandarin and Shanghainese.
