Dentsu Aegis Network today announced that Fetch, the network’s mobile media agency, has opened a new office in Tokyo.

Focused on mobile marketing and analytics, Fetch will work with Dentsu and Dentsu Digital to provide its services to Japanese advertisers.

Kensuke Hara will lead Fetch Japan as general manager. He joined Dentsu in 1997 as a media content planner, and held various positions with the agency before becoming director of a mobile marketing team at Dentsu Digital in July last year.

He said the arrival of Fetch in Tokyo will help drive innovation in Japanese mobile marketing, providing “integrated solutions from data analysis to creative and offline”.

Fetch will hit the ground running in Japan with several clients already on the books, including Expedia and Hotels.com. The agency already has operations in Hong Kong.

James Connelly, founder and CEO of Fetch, said he has “long harboured ambitions in Japan” because of the number of digital economy clients and also the “incredibly advanced mobile consumers”.

“We fully expect Fetch Japan to be one of our major offices in a short space of time complementing our existing European and USA presence,” he added.

DAN acquired London-based Fetch in 2014. The agency has been in the headlines this fall after Uber filed a lawsuit against it for 'fake clicks' and Fetch's CEO responded by accusing Uber of non-payment.
