Dentsu Aegis Network is appointing Henry Tajer, the former global CEO of IPG Mediabands who was most recently MD of Amazon Media Group Australia, as chief executive for Australia and New Zealand.

Tajer is returning to the agency side after just six months with the online retail giant. The appointment follows what DAN called an "extensive" global executive search after Simon Ryan departed the network last fall.

Prior to Amazon, Tajer was global CEO at IPG Mediabrands. He promoted from executive chairman in Australia to global COO in 2014 and ascended to global CEO in 2015. He stepped down in 2017. Prior to IPG, he was APAC president at UM.

Tajer assumes the new role from 18 February and will be based at Dentsu Aegis Network’s Sydney office.

In a release, DAN called Tajer "a celebrated people-focused, innovative leader, with a proven track record at a national, regional and global level".

“We have a large and diverse business across Australia and New Zealand which requires the high calibre leadership that Henry will provide," said Nick Waters, DAN APAC CEO. “An exceptional operator, Henry’s appointment will reinforce our leadership position as we enable our clients and staff to navigate the complexities of a rapidly changing market.”
