Former H+K exec brought in to lead APCO’s Shanghai office

SHANGHAI - Frances Sun, former senior vice-president at Hill+Knowlton Strategies China, has joined APCO Worldwide as managing director of the firm’s Shanghai office.

Sun has more than 20 years of experience in global communications, crisis communications, media and government relations. Prior to joining APCO, she spearheaded H+K Strategies’ crisis and issues management practice, equipping Chinese companies with professional communication support for their globalisation efforts.

She was responsible for H+K’s appointment by China’s State Council Information Office to conduct spokesperson training for Chinese government officials.

She also served as the global client relationship manager for the Beijing Olympic Games, a three-year project, and secured several Chinese brands for corporate communication support.

A graduate of Harvard Kennedy School, she is the board director for Asia of the Harvard Alumni Association.

APCO started operations in China more than 20 years ago with a focus on public affairs and government relations. The firm is a majority women-owned business.
