Jowell's appointment signals the agency's intention to extend its offering beyond brand consulting and identity design toward creating relevant brand touchpoints and experiences. At M&C Saatchi, he worked extensively across blue chip telecommunications, FMCG, financial services and tourism brands in Kuala Lumpur and Johannesberg before joining its Sydney operations.

Jowell will replace Erminio Putignano, who, along with executive creative director Ken Shadbolt, will be leaving the company at the end of his notice period to pursue other career opportunities.

Describing Jowell's appointment as a "real coup", newly appointed Futurebrand Asia-Pacific CEO Zayn Khan said, "When we were on the hunt for a new managing director we were keen to find someone who could help FutureBrand Australia evolve to the next level, someone with not only a strong strategy background but with deep experience in taking brands into the real world through communications, activation and social media."

Futurebrand Australia has also promoted client services director Sally McNeil to the role of general manager.
