Shankar commented, "This is going to be a bit of a homecoming for me actually. Grey was where I learned much as a junior from some exceptional minds in the business. Now it's a privilege for me to lead the place."

Shankar will report to national creative directors Malvika Mehra and Amit Akali.

Shankar's 15-year career includes lengthy tenures at Contract and Percept, and an earlier stint at Grey. He has also won several national and international awards, and his work has been featured in Luerzer's Archive.

Akali said, "The Delhi office is clearly going to be a focus for us. In the past, there's some fabulous work that's come out of there, including Incredible India and Orbit Chewing gum. There's no reason that can't happen again."

Akali also said Shankar will be partnering with Ketan Desai who has just joined as associate VP and branch head.

Mehra added, "I'm looking forward to some kick-ass work from this office."
