JWT's Shanghai team was crowned Agency of the Year for Greater China at the awards ceremony, held in Singapore last night.

The agency's chief creative officer, Yang Yeo, was also singled out as Creative of the Year for Greater China ahead of the presentation.

The affirmation of JWT's creative excellence did not come as a surprise, following its stellar performance at the 2011 Cannes Lions Festival when it clinched the first-ever Grand Prix Lion for mainland China.

In addition, the increase of Starcom MediaVest Shanghai's billings by 30 per cent year-on-year saw it taking home the Media Agency of the Year award.

Starcom won 23 new business pitches this year, including blue-chip brands such as China Telecom, Longchamp, Johnnie Walker Blue Label, Hotels.com and Tourism NZ.

Recognition of OgilvyOne's work in the area of digital strategy ensured that it picked up the Digital Agency of the Year trophy. It had increased the focus on digital, and away from campaign-driven project work, across its overall business this year.

Another highlight was the Specialist Agency of the Year accolade that went to McCann HumanCare for its strong showing in healthcare communications in its inaugural year of operations.

The full winners list can be found on the Agency of the Year website.

Pictures from the evening are also available here.
