The new role is in addition to his current position as managing director, m/six Asia Pacific, the group’s boutique agency, which launched in 2013.

Rooney takes over from Wendy Walker, who left the WPP-owned agency to become CMO of Manulife in July 2015.

Rooney will oversee all aspects of growth across the agency, and he will work closely with Mindshare’s leadership team to optimize their product development, business plans and create new revenue streams.

GroupM said m/six, with more than 50 clients across Malaysia, Indonesia, India and Singapore, is the group's most successful agency "pound for pound", and this move will bring its highly successful growth model to Mindshare.

Commenting on his appointment, Rooney said working across both agencies marks a significant change in the way that m/six will collaborate with Mindshare, from a resourcing and product development perspective.

Ashutosh Srivastava, Mindshare’s CEO for AMEA & Russia/CIS said that Rooney has proven with m/six that passion and agility can lead to an excellent track record for both an agency and their clients.

“I am delighted to have him working with us again and look forward to having him bring this same spirit and mindset to Mindshare,” he added.

Rooney boasts nearly 12 years’ experience within WPP roles across North America, Global and APAC, in both management and business development positions.
