Marriott International has appointed Bart Buiring as chief sales and marketing officer for APAC, based in Hong Kong. He replaces Peggy Fang Roe, who held the same title since 2013 and has now been promoted to a newly created, US-based role as global officer for customer experience, loyalty and new ventures.

Both changes were effective January 1.

Buiring was previously chief operations services officer for APAC—the same role Fang Roe held before she became chief sales and marketing officer for the region. Buiring will oversee Asia Pacific consumer strategy, including brand management, marketing, sales and distribution, revenue management, loyalty, customer experience, digital and communications.

In her new role, Fang Roe will be responsible for orchestrating the end-to-end guest experience and the development of new ventures to accelerate customer engagement, including the continued growth of Marriott Bonvoy, the company said.

In addition, the company said it had promoted Rajeev Menon to president of Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China) and Henry Lee to president of Greater China.
