Shanghai Volkswagen shifts digital media to MediaCom China

SHANGHAI - MediaCom has been awarded the Shanghai Volkswagen digital media business in mainland China following a four-way pitch against OMD and incumbent Energy Source.

The pitch took place in March this year. The WPP firm is now charged with digital planning and buying for all VW models under the Shanghai Volkswagen umbrella in mainland China

The models include the Lavida, Passat, Polo, Santana and the Touran.

According to a statement, MediaCom and GroupM have worked with Shanghai Volkswagen for over a decade on their mainstream media business.

With the digital business win, MediaCom will deliver an integrated and holistic communication approach for all Shanghai Volkswagen models in the mainland market.

The digital media business will be serviced by the local MediaCom Interaction team.

In April, Shanghai Volkswagen, a joint venture between Volkswagen Group and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation, selected Agenda Shanghai as its digital agency after a competitive pitch that involved Tribal DDB, Agency.com and incumbent Energy Source.
