Southeast Asia’s first Waldorf Astoria to open in Bangkok

The luxury hotel brand will make a grand entrance into the region with a André Fu-designed property.

Southeast Asia’s first Waldorf Astoria to open in Bangkok

Hilton will launch its first Waldorf Astoria property in Southeast Asia in Bangkok’s bustling Ratchaprasong intersection. Set to begin operating in the third quarter of the year, the hotel will add to Bangkok’s already glittering catalogue of luxury hotel brands.

All 171 guest rooms will reflect the style of designer and architect André Fu, the man responsible for important properties in the region such as Kerry Hotel Hong Kong, Four Seasons Seoul, and The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore.

Meetings wise, Waldorf Astoria Bangkok will offer spaces on several levels with “creative catering” and tech services to boot. The Calla Suite features a pre-function foyer and an adjoining outdoor terrace for a pre-event cocktail session before guests adjourn into the Camellia Ballroom. Both venues have floor-to-ceiling windows for plenty of natural light.

The property’s 9th and 10th levels are dedicated to meeting rooms and smaller ballrooms for more intimate meetings and customised functions. The spaces range from executive boardrooms and divisible conference rooms for up to 390 guests, or the more majestic Magnolia Ballroom that can fit up to 900 guests.

The Waldorf Astoria brand will expand into other Asia markets from next year onwards with three properties in Indonesia and one in the Maldives.
