Times of India launches 'My City, My Art' challenge for World Art Day

In celebration of World Art Day, the Times of India Metro Supplements has launched the 'My City. My Art' challenge—a new initiative designed to highlight local artistic talent and offer fresh perspectives on urban life.

This challenge calls on artists from diverse backgrounds to creatively reinterpret their cities, offering them a platform to showcase their artistic visions and narrative skills.

The initiative has garnered support from various celebrities who will also serve as jury members. Notably, actress and art enthusiast Rituparna Sengupta expressed her excitement about the initiative, remarking on the beauty of the effort and her eagerness to participate.

Fellow jury member, actress Pranitha Subhash highlighted the necessity of such platforms for artists, emphasising the need for greater focus on art and artists in society.

The jury panel features a mix of prominent personalities across different cities, including Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash in Delhi, Raqesh Bapat in Mumbai, and others in cities like Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

Artists interested in participating in the challenge have until April 30, 2024, to submit their works. Winners will see their artwork featured in the Times of India Metro Supplements and on T-shirts worn by celebrities. Additionally, the challenge offers artists a chance to engage with a broader audience through online workshops and social media activities.

Sivakumar Sundaram, CEO of Times of India, highlighted the initiative as a celebration of the unique character of cities and the deep connections people have with their urban environments, all reimagined through the lens of artistic creativity.

‘We have always celebrated the unique character of our cities and provided a platform to our readers to celebrate their relationship with their cities. With My City. My Art. we are launching a platform for artists to reimagine their cities through their creative imagination," shared Sundaram.
