SINGAPORE - Campaign Asia-Pacific can confirm that as part of Samsung Southeast Asia's restructuring process, Damien Cummings has left his post as the Korean electronics manufacturer's regional marketing director, digital & social media, at Samsung Asia.

Industry sources have confirmed that the restructuring, which follows the appointment of new regional CEO and president, KK Park, has affected the role of Cummings, who joined in August 2012, and around 24 other individuals in the marketing department.

Also rumoured to have left the company is Ambrish Jain, regional marketing head at Samsung Electronics. (Update: Samsung's PR representative has gotten in touch to clarify that Ambrish Jain will not be leaving the company and that part of the SEA and Oceania workforce has been reallocated in light of business needs)

Job changes as previously reported include Christel Quek, former global social marketing manager at Havas Media Group, who joined in July as regional social business lead, and Ranji David, who joined in May as regional head of digital marketing.

A source said Quek has since moved to Hong Kong as part of the restructuring exercise, while David has been reassigned to a new role as head of media.

In September when the restructure was announced, Samsung and Cummings declined to comment on his role. Richard Joyce, Samsung's director of corporate affairs for SEA and Oceania, would only comment that the move involved "a very small number of layoffs", adding that he could not name or confirm the roles of individuals.

While numerous sources have confirmed the above details, no one at Samsung could be reached for comment at the time of publication, as the regional headquarters is closed for "Samsung Foundation Day".

Campaign Asia-Pacific will update this article as more information becomes available.
