VML today announced the launch of its centre of excellence (COE) for platforms and experiences in Singapore, together with the support of the country’s Economic Development Board.

Over the next three years, the COE will seek to strengthen digital capabilities and help clients benefit from VML’s best practices around digital transformation.

At least 40 new hires will be made through the COE, in the areas of user experience, analytics, e-commerce and digital consulting. Senior leaders within VML’s global network will help mentor the new arrivals.

“The establishment of the centre of excellence is a significant step in us being able to develop talent, best practices, industry standards, which all come together to deliver the best experiences to our clients’ consumers,” said Tripti Lochan, CEO of VML Southeast Asia and India. “Having the EDB partner with us in driving this is a great show of faith and an exciting opportunity for us to develop local talent in Singapore to service regional and global client needs.”

WPP-owned VML expects its platforms and experiences practice to contribute more than 40 percent of the agency’s revenues.

The practice has led digital transformation initiatives for regional brands including Ford, INSEAD, Mediacorp, Kotak Mahindra Bank & DSP Blackrock.

Clarence Chua, EBD director of professional services, said: “As marketing services providers continue to transform their offerings, EDB is committed to working with them to build the capacity and capabilities.

“We are truly excited that VML is growing its platforms and experience business through a centre of excellence here, tapping on our talent pool to drive digital transformation of brands.”

The COE is one of three globally that VML is setting up, with the others in London and the Kansas City in the US.
