Dentsu Aegis Network Korea is promoting its chief strategy officer Woohyun Nam to the chief executive's seat. Effective May 1, he will succeed current CEO Yoshihiro Nagai, who is returning to a role at Dentsu Inc. in Japan.

Nam first joined DAN more than a decade ago as a communications planning director at Carat Korea, but was quickly promoted to general manager and was credited with doubling the agency's staff and billings. He went on to become CEO of several key network brands in Korea including Carat, Vizeum and Isobar.

“As we continue our succession planning, there is no one more appropriate to take the role of CEO than Woohyun," said Rob Hughes, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network North Asia. "He is a tremendous asset to the network and has a proven track record of strong business acumen and leadership."

Key areas of focus for Nam will be improving innovation and collaboration within the network.

“In this post digital era, I believe Dentsu Aegis Network Korea will continue to stay ahead of our competitors on the basis of doing things different and better, and our proposition of innovating the way brands are built is key to this success," Nam said.  "Now entrusted as the lead, I take it as my personal responsibility to develop new paths for our people and to pioneer new opportunities in the marketing and business environment."

Dentsu has not yet specified what role Nagai will take on next at Dentsu Inc. In a release, Hughes thanked Nagai for his effectiveness in building DAN Korea, adding "It has been a pleasure partnering with Nagai-san and I wish him the very best for the next exciting chapter in his career.
