Singapore promotes healthy eating through iPhone app

SINGAPORE – Singapore’s Health Promotion Board (HPB) has recently launched the ‘Healthy chef’ iPhone application, as a way to promote healthy eating.

Developed by Codigo, this free application provides more than 70 “healthier and mouth-washing” Chinese, Malay, Indian and Western recipes created by renowned chefs in Singapore, all with step-by-step preparation methods.

With the aim of preparing recipes that help the users to meet their healthy lifestyle goals, this application allows them to search for recipes according to their calorie content.

Users can also publish recipes they have chosen and add reminders in their calendar to prepare their selected recipes. The ‘Healthy chef’ application will also adjust the amount of ingredients needed based on the number of serving specified. Subsequently, a shopping list can be outlined.

In addition, the application highlights products carrying HPB’s Healthier Choice Symbol so that the users can look out for them while grocery shopping.
