'Stephen' goes big for TD Ameritrade's first foray in Asia

Amusing ad by Havas Singapore is the brand's first locally produced creative work.

The video above fronts a campaign for TD Ameritrade Singapore that includes print, outdoor and online. With the tagline, 'When you’re ready to go big, you’re ready to go TD Ameritrade,' the work is meant to position the firm as "the default platform for elite local traders who want to trade on the US markets". The campaign is both the firm's first "major" marketing exercise in Asia and the first work by Havas Singapore on the brand's behalf.

Damien Shatford, director, The Sweet Shop:

The beauty of this spot lies in the contrast between the prosaic world of the main character getting on with the daily grind, and the excitement that he feels inside. He’s got a secret, and this gives him the confidence to express his inner cool.

Ad Nut almost always enjoys a winking allusion to the famous walk-toward-camera shot in The Right Stuff, even though the original is not as clichéd as it probably is in your memory.
