City Chain picks UM for media business in SEA

The mandate includes full service support together with developing a communications strategy, as well as buying and planning across traditional and digital media channels. The remit also includes digital duties in China, a key market for the retailer in Asia.

A spokesperson for City Chain confirmed the development. The agency won the account without a pitch following discussions with the agency in September.

The retailer is channeling its marketing spend toward Solvil et Titus, a key brand for the company. McCann Worldgroup handles the firm’s creative business.

In 2012, it had named Optimedia as its agency of record, following a review.

City Chain has more than 400 stores across Asia-Pacific. Established in 1985, it is owned by Stelux Holdings International Limited, a Hong Kong-based publicly traded retailer.
