Ngao is to focus on expanding the channel portfolio, distribution networks, advertising sales capabilities and further localising content for the Chinese audience. One of the major pushes in China is the National Geographic Channel.

Ngao will be moving from the Hong Kong operation to Beijing and report to Joanne Tsai, senior VP and general manager for China and Taiwan at FIC. Prior to her appointment, Ngao was the VP of affiliate sales and partnerships for Asia in Hong Kong.

Tsai said China is an important market for FIC and it will be working closely with local production and filmmakers, Shanghai Media Group and China International Television Corporation.

The channel has also appointed Byrd Bunnag (left) as territory head for Thailand.
