Derek Kwok leaves Yoyi Digital for Google China

BEIJING - Derek Kwok (郭志明) has taken a newly created role as Google's head of programmatic-buyer relations in Greater China after leaving his COO job at Yoyi Digital in June.

Kwok will manage media buyers of Google's AdX platform in China in this position.

He became the COO of Yoyi Digital, a programmatic-buying company, in September 2011 and was part of the team that launched the first DSP (demand-side platform) back in March 2012. Volvo used that DSP to implement its first RTB (real-time bidding) ad campaign in China. Kwok also organised the industry's first China Advertising Technology Conference in August 2013.

Prior to that, Kwok was the managing director of ZenithOptimedia China for 15 years.

The most significant challenge he is seeking to overcome this year is how to support "real" cross-screen programmatic buying in China, he said.
