Vietnamobile and Mobifone review creative accounts in Vietnam

Vietnam has had a recent buzz of activity in the last two weeks with two of the top four mobile service providers calling a pitch.

Mobifone, the largest mobile player in Vietnam, is scheduled to invite agencies for a pitch briefing in the next few days. The account is currently handled by JWT.

Vietnamobile, the most recent entrant into Vietnam, is currently in the midst of its review. The telecom company, owned by Hutchison Whampoa, was the fifth largest GSM player to enter Vietnam and has subsequently climbed up a notch, ahead of Beeline.

Monica Morelos, GM of River Orchid, the Indochina agency currently handling Vietnamobile's creative account, confirmed her agency is part of this review along with two other short-listed agencies.

According to sources, the business for a telecoms account in Vietnam can be worth anything between US$3 and 10 million.

The Vietnamese telecoms market is considered to be fiercely competitive, with a high number of subscribers and several new network operators entering the market.
