Bertilla Teo and Michael Lee to be Greater China co-CEOs at Publicis Groupe

The group also names an APAC MD for Publicis Sapient.

Publicis Groupe has appointed Bertilla Teo and Michael Lee as co-chief executive officers for Greater China.

Teo has been CEO of Publicis Media Greater China since 2016, and Lee was CEO of Publicis Communications Greater China prior to the promotion.

As co-CEOs, they will manage 3,500 employees in Greater China across the following agency brands: Starcom, Zenith, Spark Foundry, Blue 449, Performics, Saatchi & Saatchi, Publicis, Leo Burnett, MSL, Digitas and Sapient.

They will both report to Loris Nold, CEO of Publicis Groupe Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, and are tasked to work closely with Janice Foo and Teguh Chen, respectively chief talent officer and chief financial officer.

Meanwhile, David Gompel, currently chief operating officer of Publicis Communications, moves to a newly created role as managing director of Publicis Sapient APAC, in addition to his existing responsibilities on Publicis' digital operations in Greater China. The ex-MD of Publicis.Sapient China, Torben Pheiffer, left his position in December 2018.

Teo has been with Publicis for over nine years, beginning her tenure as CEO of Starcom MediaVest Group Greater China. Lee, who served as CEO of Publicis Communications Greater China while continuing another role as CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Greater China since 2016, has been working in the group since 2011.
