Leo Burnett Greater China snaps up Huawei's corporate branding business

GUANGZHOU - Leo Burnett Greater China has becomes an agency for Chinese electronics giant Huawei Technologies for their corporate communications and branding.

Leo Burnett Greater China won the account in an undisclosed four-way pitch in the final quarter last year.

The account will be managed by Leo Burnett Guangzhou, which will execute all above the line and selected business-to-business communications for the Chinese brand. The brief does not include Huawei Technology’s range of consumer goods.

Jeff Ho, managing director of Leo Burnett Guangzhou reported that the pitch was judged on creativity. The winning team has already working on the account.

Shenzhen-based Huawei is the largest China-based networking and telecommunications equipment supplier, and the second-largest supplier of mobile telecommunications infrastructure equipment in the world after Ericsson. The company has been a core hardware provider for many mobile brands including Vodafone, Docomo and Google.

The company’s sales revenue in the first half of last year grew 11 per cent year-on-year to US$15.58 billion (RMB 98.3 billion), and its operating profit reached US$1.96 billion (RMB 12.4 billion).

The company works with a number of advertising agency on its roster for various businesses, Reported in March 2010, McCann Worldgroup Hong Kong developed the two-minute long thematic video 'Simple World’ for the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
