Starcom Guangzhou wins media planning and buying for Guangdong Development Bank

GUANGZHOU - Starcom has scooped the media planning and buying account for Guangdong Development Bank (GDB) after a three-way pitch that included the incumbent agency Zenith Guangzhou and Mindshare.

It is understood GDB has estimated billings of over US$149 million.

Ann Chan, general manager, Starcom Guangzhou, said the GDB was “a brand with immense potential, and represents an important category in our portfolio".

Publicis Hong Kong is believed to handle creative duties for GDB’s mainland credit card business.

GDB was established in 1988 and has more than 500 branches in China and 12 million customers. Citigroup and IBM both have a stake in the bank.
