TikTok has unified Rema Vasan’s past two remits to name her head of North America and global gaming business marketing, effective in June.

She will work with clients on gaming globally and brands across verticals in North America, according to her LinkedIn profile.

“Delighted to share that I've taken on an expanded role at TikTok, leading both North America business marketing and global gaming business marketing,” she wrote in a LinkedIn post on Thursday. “Excited to dive back into North America while continuing to drive impact for global gaming!”

Vasan was not immediately available for comment.

Vasan joined TikTok as head of North America business marketing in May 2022. She then created the TikTok gaming team in January 2023 when she took on the role of head of global gaming business marketing. In that role, she led the platform’s efforts to prove that it has a robust gaming creator economy.

In October, TikTok released a report developed in partnership with Newzoo showing that the platform is a potent marketing tool for gaming brands promoting an upcoming release on PC and consoles. In February, it published a report with similar findings for mobile games.

In May, TikTok VP of global communications Hilary McQuaide left the video-based platform after seven years to “take up a new adventure” she wrote in a LinkedIn post. She did not disclose details about a new job.

Last summer, TikTok named former longtime Disney communications leader Zenia Mucha as its chief brand and communications officer. McQuaide reported to Mucha.

This week, former President Donald Trump has said he supports TikTok amid a looming ban for the app, which is owned by Beijing-based ByteDance. If ByteDance fails to sell TikTok by January, it faces a nationwide ban.
